Chilli is a great dish to share with friends. Chilli con carne (literally “Chilli with meat”, known simply as chilli) is a spicy stew made from chilli peppers, meat, garlic, onions, and cumin. Traditional chilli is made with chopped or ground beef, but variations, either geographic or by personal preference substitute different types of meat and may include beans and other ingredients. Chilli Con Carne is the official dish of the U.S. state of Texas. It can be found worldwide in local variations and also in certain American-style fast food restaurants.

Method: Collect the equipment together that you will need, chopping board, sharp knife, garlic press or garlic twist, frying pan, casserole, measuring spoons, can opener, sieve for the rice or potato spikes and heat resistant silicone spatula. And the ingredients listed. Heat the oil in a frying pan and cook the onions on a gentle heat until soft but not coloured, use a silicon spatula to stir. Add the minced beef and cook until it begins to brown and no longer looks pink, again the silicon spatula will be useful to separate the mince as you cook it. Add the garlic, cumin and chilli powder (if you are using fresh chillies take care to remove the seeds and check for taste and chilli heat), tinned tomatoes plus one tin of hot water and seasoning. Bring to the boil and simmer gently for about 20-30 minutes. Add kidney beans and cook for 15 minutes. Add chocolate and taste for seasoning. Serve with rice or baked potatoes.
