How to make short pastry

8oz (250g) self raising flour
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1oz (30g) of sugar
2oz (62g) lard
2oz (62g) margarine
8 teaspoonfuls of water (approx)

1. Mix the flour and salt in a mixing bowl
2. Lightly rub in lard & margarine until like bread crumbs
3. Stir in the sugar
4. Add the cold water and use a pastry blender to mix to a stiff dough.

5. Roll your pastry as desired with a good rolling pin
